Charity Christmas Event - Accountants Year End Essential Technical Update

Reference:EVE62
This event is now over.

Accountant’s knowledge and skills are increasingly becoming T shaped: broad basic accounting knowledge with very narrow specialism(s).  This course is designed to update the general broad base of technical accounting knowledge relevant to most accountants in industry, financial services or practice. The topics will be covered in a very summary way with signposts to further information where necessary.

Accounting: The latest thinking on the proposed change from using UK GAAP to using IFRS and the FRSME; summary of new IFRS standards issued in 2011; and proposals for future accounting standards in areas such as leasing and revenue recognition.

Auditing: The clarified auditing standards implementation issues; new audit report formats and revised auditing standards; Ethical standards and PASE; changes to audit exemption; the Statutory Audit Directive and EU proposals on improving audit quality.

Law: The current position on the Companies Consolidation and Reform Bill, the Criminal Justice Act 2011 (so called ‘white collar crime Act’); ODCE role and powers; Owner Management Companies; Investment Business; and other changes.

Regulation of the profession: Updates on IAASA and POB (UK) annual reports and proposals for future changes to audit regulation; Insolvency work; getting a practicing certificate; and the operation of the Transparency Directive in Ireland and the EU.
