ACCA Ireland are inviting you to our online event on Anti-money Laundering and Counter Terrorism (AML/CTF) as an opportunity and threat to Irish Financial Services which will take place on Wednesday, 6th of April 2022.

The objective of this event is to explore the opportunities and threats for the financial services sector arising from the proposed establishment of a EU-level Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism (AML/CFT) supervisor.

The focus of the presentations and roundtable discussions will be on identifying how a central AML/CFT supervisor might provide an opportunity to greatly increase the compliance employment opportunities in Ireland in the financial services sector.  The roundtable will also explore any threats to the financial services sector arising from the transfer of the regulatory function from the Central Bank to a EU regulator; identify what entities should continue to be supervised locally in a delegated supervision arrangement and any increase in cost that might be identified from the proposal.

The roundtable will address the halo effect of locating financial services FDI in a robustly regulated environment and how that may be lost for Ireland when the local regulator is replaced by a EU regulator. Other EU countries, which are currently poorly regulated for AML/CFT and therefore carry a reputation and regulatory risk for FDI, may then be considered pari passi with Ireland in terms of FDI choices.

  •  Minister Sean Fleming, Minister with responsibility for Financial Services
  • Representative from the DG FISMA
