The workshop will reference relevant sections of the Revenue audit Code of Practice and legislation, where necessary, however the focus of the seminar is to give advisors a practical insight into how difficult situations should be managed in practice. The issues to be addressed during the seminar will include:
• The psychology of Revenue audits – an insight into Revenue thinking
• Responding to requests for information and other interventions.
• Negotiation of settlements with Revenue which are significantly less than the total tax, interest and penalties due.
• Dealing with audits where there is no paper trail or clear outline of the Revenue approach.
• Putting in place a ‘fire alarm’ system for your clients for unannounced site visits.
• Steps to follow to achieving a successful outcome in an audit
• Common mistakes made by practitioners
