Speaker: Aidan Clifford, ACCA Ireland
Aidan works full time for ACCA Ireland as Advisory Services Manager, providing advice to accountants on technical auditing, accounting, ethical and investment business issues. He also lectures extensively for ACCA on auditing and accounting to qualified members and students both in Ireland and overseas. Aidan formerly worked as a Compliance Officer for ACCA, monitoring the compliance by professional accounting firms with auditing and professional standards.

Topic:
Many accountants are described as “T accountants” with a broad general accounting knowledge (the top bar on the T) and a deep specialism (the down stroke on the T), this course is designed to refresh the top bar of a members broad accounting relevant technical knowledge. 
Accounting: The latest thinking on the proposed change from using UK GAAP to using IFRS and FRS 102; summary of new IFRS standards issued in 2011; and proposals for future accounting standards in areas such as leasing and revenue recognition.
Auditing: The clarified auditing standards implementation issues; new audit report formats and revised auditing standards; changes to audit exemption; the Statutory Audit Directive and EU proposals on improving audit quality.
Law: the Criminal Justice Act 2011 (so called ‘white collar crime Act’); Owner Management Companies; and personal insolvency legislation proposals.
