Derek Andrews is a tax advisor with 20 years experience in tax planning. He is a co-founder of Andrews Tax Consulting, a tax consultancy firm that specialises in tax management and business strategy to companies and individuals in manufacturing, life science, software development, aviation and agrifood industries. They also provide in-house and bespoke professional consultancy support to accountancy and legal firms throughout Ireland.

This course is a technical update for accountants which will deal with both commercial issues faced on the ground and changes in the tax landscape on foot of the Finance Bill 2012.
The tax planning issues to be addressed during the seminar will include:
- How to avoid unintentionally making a gift to a bank
- Don’t leave Wills to the family lawyer – advice accountants should be giving clients in relation to their clients Wills and creating enduring powers of attorney.
- Minimising exposure to benefit-in-kind and withholding tax on director's loans.

- How to access dwelling house relief to provide for a tax-free inheritance to a child of over €1m.

- Stamp duty and capital gains tax tips and anti-avoidance rules when transferring business property and other assets to a company.
In order to make best use of the available time the seminar will conclude with case-studies to give attendees an opportunity to consider how the above will impact in practice.
