On 26 June 2012, the Taoiseach announced that the Personal Insolvency Bill 2012 had been approved by the Government. This Bill proposes to change the insolvency landscape for individuals in financial difficulty.
Leading bankruptcy expert, Tom Murray of Friel Stafford, examines in detail the provisions contained in the Bill and discusses how it will be utilised by individuals in financial stress. In particular, Tom will look at how it will be utilised by individuals for consumer, bank and property related debt. He will also examine the pros and cons contained in the legislation and consider the “Bankruptcy Tourism” as an option post new legislation.
