The theme of this event is ‘Thinking about becoming a non-executive director? What you need to know’.  Our speakers on the night include:

Etain Doyle - Vistage Group Chair - Ireland
Etain is a challenging business coach and strategist, helping CEOs work smarter.  She has a wide range of business and regulatory consulting and mentoring experience.
Etain is Vistage Group Chair in Ireland and in 2009 she was the winner of the Chair of the Year award for Vistage International.
Etain is a director of The Wheel and the Military Heritage of Ireland Trust.
From 1997-2004 Etain was the first Head of Ireland's Communciations Regulatory Agency. She set-up and led the ODTR (later ComReg), Ireland's first sectoral regulatory agency.
Etain has previously been a non executive director of the Utility Regulator for Northern Ireland.  She has served on the executive committee of the institute of international & european affairs, chaired the CRANN Board at TCD and, earlier in her career, she sat on the boards of a number of state agencies. 
Etain is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.  She has a Bacherlor of Arts in History and Politics, and is an acredited coach and member of the Association for Coaching.

Etain will use her own experience to discuss the following:

  • How to get involved
  • What type of boards did she serve on initially
  • How did she prepare for these appointments
  •  What motivated her to become a director – the benefits / rewards of becoming a director(financial and non-financial)
  • Lessons learned
  • Governance and the risks involved in putting yourself forward as a director  

 

Paula Mullin, Executive Communications Coach
Paula Mullin is an executive coach with an honours degree in Psychology and Sociology from Queens University Belfast and qualifications in personal and executive coaching and training. With over nine years’ combined experience working within Ireland’s leading communications consultancies, Murray Consultants and Drury, Paula specialises in designing and delivering communications training, coaching programmes and facilitation sessions. She has provided these services to companies such as CRH, HP, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and Vodafone.
Paula coaches senior executives on dramatically improving their communication skills for new business pitches, company presentations and media opportunities. She recently provided one to one coaching for senior management in ESB, RSA Insurance and National University Galway. Her expert facilitation skills are often put to use in companies – in 2010 she was responsible for facilitating the early stages of the nationwide competition Your Country Your Call led by Dr Martin McAleese in Áras an Uachtaráin, and followed up by providing presentation training for the finalists.
Paula is a regular contributor on RTE’s Marian Finucane Show and recently contributed to a discussion on John Murray’s Show. In addition, her work has featured in The Sunday Business Post, The Irish Times and The Irish Independent. For details on Paula see www.paulamullin.com
