ACCA Ireland are delighted to announce our upcoming Audit Update Conference for 2021. The event will take place on Thursday, 21 October and will be delivered by Garret Wynne, Principal at Garret Wynne & Co Limited. Garret has significant experience working with many accounting firms throughout Ireland and has presented on numerous topics including Financial Reporting, Auditing, Accounting Standards and Regulatory Reporting.
This half-day event is designed to provide an update to firm staff and senior management on the continuing updates to auditing standards and to look at the impact of COVID-19 in the application of current auditing standards. This course will focus on the common issues noted in file reviews completed. This event will focus on 3 key areas for firms:
1. Audit Planning, focusing on
Identification of fraud and specific audit risks
Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Communication with management and those charged with governance
Preliminary analytical review
Identification of accounting estimates
Systems documentation and walkthrough testing
2. Audit Execution
Ensuring proper documentation of audit work and demonstration of sufficient appropriate audit evidence
Use of third party confirmation request
3. Audit Completion, focusing on
Final analytical review and demonstration of firm knowledge
Completion of post balance sheet events review
Assessment of going concern and the requirement as auditor
Review of different possible audit opinions
About Garret Wynne
Garett trained with PwC and worked at Audit Director level in a top ten firm up to 2009. Prior to founding Garret Wynne & Co Limited, Garret worked with OmniPro, to ensure that firms meet their regulatory compliance requirements.
The role involved carrying out pre and post monitoring visits to accountancy firms throughout Ireland, assistance with disciplinary issues, the provision of technical support services to clients and the completion of hot and cold file reviews as required under the direction of the Regulating Institute.
Garret was also responsible for the preparation and presentation of in-house training to accounting firms and CPD training material. He has presented on numerous topics including Financial Reporting, Auditing, Accounting Standards and Regulatory Reporting to both live audiences and for online CPD.
