Women in Finance

Reference:WiF2022
This event is now over.

ACCA Ireland are delighted to invite you to our inaugural, Women In Finance event, which is brought to you in partnership with Grant Thornton.

As part of this event we will be joined by ACCA Global President, Orla Collins, who will talk about gender equality in finance, promoting diversity, raising visibility, and empowering women to find their personal path to success. The event will be held at Grant Thornton’s Dublin offices, on Thursday, 3 November from 12:00 to 14.00.

The event will be chaired by ACCA Ireland Vice-Chair, Stephen Doyle, who will conduct a panel discussion with Orla Collins, ACCA’s Global President, Meliosa O'Caoimh - The 30% Club, with more guests TBA, in which they will answer questions, share their opinions, and discuss important areas to empower women to achieve their professional potential at every stage of their career.

CSO Gender Balance in Business 2021 survey highlighted that only one in eight CEOs in Ireland were women. ACCA recognises that transforming workplace cultural norms is paramount and that while significant progress has been made, there is still much work to be done to close the gap between the number of men versus the number of women in senior finance roles.

The Women in Finance agenda is a subject close to the heart of ACCA. When it comes to promoting and celebrating diversity, ACCA has a distinguished history. ACCA has always been an inclusive professional body, proud of our reach and difference. We were the first accountancy body in the UK to admit a woman back in 1909. Opportunity and diversity are two of our five core values, and we were established specifically to open up the profession to people of all backgrounds, based solely on their abilities. Our membership has a 50/50 gender split, and our Council and executive team are also balanced in terms of men and women.

This is a ticketless event; once you have booked online, no further action is required on your part, the ACCA Ireland team will contact you with further information ahead of the event.

Some of the topics being discussed could include:

  • Tackling and transforming workplace cultural norms.
  • Women vs global challenges
  • COVID as a driver for change
  • Diversity of thought, raising visibility and empowering women at each career stage.
  • Promoting diversity of thought in the finance sector.
  • Getting ethnic diversity right at all levels
  • Gender balance as a competitive edge.
  • Advocating for a new generation of industry leadership - how “female” skills are more necessary now than ever.
  • Gender Pay Gap Reporting In Ireland 2022
