ACCA Leinster Panel is delighted to deliver this important event around the prevailing topic of sustainability, and more specifically ‘How can Data & Analytics Progress Sustainability Initiatives?’ on Tuesday, 20 April from 12:30 – 13:30.

 

On the day, we will be joined by leading experts; Stephen Prendiville, Head of Sustainability at EY, Rachael Johnson, Head of Risk Management and Corporate Governance at ACCA, and Ian van der Vlugt, VP of Product and Research at Datamaran, who will share their opinions and insights on how data analytics can be a powerful tool in reaching our sustainability goals.

 

Ian van der Vlugt, VP of Product & Research at Datamaran

In this role, Ian manages product development, working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the greatest product value for our clients. Ian also oversees the creation of product-related data, content and research. Before joining Datamaran, Ian was the head of the data team at CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), managing the organization's data cleaning and modeling work and associated projects, primarily through a climate change lens. Prior to that, Ian worked at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), growing its Sustainability Disclosure Database and bridging technical and content work. Ian has also worked at Deutsche Post DHL, designing and authoring e-learning

 

Stephen Prendiville, Head of Sustainability at EY

Stephen leads EY Ireland’s Sustainability business. Driving forward both EY Ireland’s own carbon negative and net zero strategy internally, while also ensuring our clients gain the maximum value from EY professionals experienced in sustainability and related services.

 

Originally from Limerick, Stephen move to Canada in 2011 where he worked with numerous large cities  to deliver sustainable mobility solutions as well as climate resilience advisory services. Passionate about the provision of higher order electrified public transport and compact urban design, and its role in tackling poverty and homelessness, Stephen has dedicated his professional career to network system thinking – considering the implications of multiple trends and disruptions for planning and strategy development for clients. Notably, Stephen has also undertaken significant infrastructure development and related policy development initiatives for the advance of the circular economy.

 

Stephen returned to Ireland in the Summer of 2020 to lead EY Ireland’s ambitious climate action agenda and the growth of its sustainability services for our clients.

 

 

Rachael Johnson, Head of Risk Management and Corporate Governance at ACCA

Rachael is Head of Risk Management and Corporate Governance for Professional Insights at ACCA. Rachael has an authentic history of creating thought leadership content on a range of financial topics including global capital markets, risk management, responsible investing, sustainable finance, regulation, and corporate governance. 

 

In her current role at ACCA, Rachael produces research, thought leadership and CPD content on risk and corporate governance for members and partners around the world. She also is the secretariat of ACCA’s Global Forum for Governance, Risk and Performance, which advocates and provides comments for consultations.
