Jim Power is owner manager of Jim Power Economics Limited, an economic and financial consultancy. The company carries out consultancy projects, public speaking, and training for a variety of public and private sector entities.
He is Chief Economist to the Friends First Group and was previously Treasury Economist at AIB (1987-1991) and Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland Group Treasury (1995-2000).
He is the author of the SIMI/DoneDeal Motor Industry Review and Friends First Quarterly Economic Outlook. He has a particular interest in Tourism, Regional Development and the Agri-Food sector.
He writes a weekly column in the Examiner and is a frequent contributor to media. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars both in Ireland and overseas.
He lectures on the MSc Management at Smurfit School of Business, UCD.
He is a board member of Agri-Aware and Chairman of Love Irish Food. He is also Chairman of Three Rock Capital Management, an investment firm.
In 2009 he wrote his first book, “Picking up the Pieces’, and in 2017 he co-authored a book ‘Marketing Multiplied’, which examines the economics of marketing and advertising.
He is a native of Waterford, and is married with 2 sons. Waterford hurling is the passion!
