Guest Speaker:   Chris Horn, Atlantic Bridge Ventures LLP/Former Founder and CEO of Iona Technologies

Chris Horn is an electronics engineer.  He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1978, and subsequently completed his PhD in the Computer Science Dept. He then spent a year working as a civil servant in Brussels for the European Commission’s ESPRIT programme

Returning to Ireland, he was on the faculty of the Computer Science Department of Trinity College until 1991 when he co-founded and became CEO of IONA Technologies. 

Starting with an initial investment of €1,250 each Sean Baker, Annrai O’Toole and Chris grew IONA without any venture capital but taking a minority investment from Sun Microsystems in Mountain View in 1993. 

Since December 2011 Chris have been informally working with the Atlantic Bridge technology investment team. His involvement in Atlantic Bridge has in turn led him to becoming a board observer for Swrve, an A/B testing company for gaming and mobile applications headquartered in San Francisco.

In January 2013 Chris became chairman of the Northern Ireland Science Park Connect Initiative in Belfast.
