The pandemic has impacted everyone in how we work, where we work and when we work. During this session we will take a look back at what changes were emerging pre pandemic and how the pandemic accelerated change in many ways. In addition, our panel will discuss the longer term impact of those trends and what we expect the future of working may look like.

Kevin Empey will provide an introduction and an overview of the evolution of work and work practices up to this phase and, in particular, what to expect in the future of work from here.
Jean Cushen will present findings of a recent in-depth study following graduates during their first year of professional employment. The findings offer insights into the 'future worker' and illustrate what drives and depletes workplace 'Human Capital', 'Social Capital' and 'Psychological Capital'.
Keith Griffin will talk about the changes in remote and hybrid work - what we have seen and learned during the pandemic - transition back to office - the role of AI and advanced tech in collaboration and hybrid work.

Kevin Empey, Managing Director, WorkMatters
Kevin Empey has specialised in organisation development, leadership development and people strategy for over 25 years. Author of Thrive In The Future of Work and co-author of Agile People Principles – Your Call to Action for the Future of Work, he supports organisations develop their Future of Work strategies, transition plans and training programmes. Kevin is Founder and Managing Director of WorkMatters, an international training and consulting firm focused on helping business leaders, HR leaders and their employees navigate and succeed in the changing world of work. He is also Programme Director of the Senior Leadership Programme in the IMI.
Jean Cushen, Associate Professor HRM Maynooth University School of Business
Jean is an Associate Professor of HRM within the School of Business, Maynooth University. Jean's research explores the contemporary employment experience focusing on HRM, careers and also the financialization and sustainability of work. Jean has published on these topics in top ranked international journals including ‘Accounting, Organizations and Society’ and 'Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management'. Jean has also contributed to HRM related publications including HRM encyclopaedias and textbooks, CIPD and IBEC publications.
Keith Griffin, Distinguished Engineer and General Manager Cisco Galway
Keith Griffin is the general manager for Cisco in Galway Ireland, a 280 person world class engineering team. Keith is a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco and is focused on Cognitive Collaboration Technology including AI and Machine Learning, metrics and analytics architecture in the office of CTO. He works on features that include Webex Assistant, Noise Removal, People Insights, Face recognition, Meeting Transcription and others.
Keith works with customers, partners and analysts to ensure that technology direction is aligned with market needs. He leads Cisco’s Collaboration IP, Patent and Research strategy and has been Cisco’s top inventor for collaboration technology for over ten years.
Keith holds a PhD from the University of Limerick in Ireland related to the use of Representational State Transfer (REST) programmable interface design for Communications Integration in web browsers. He works closely with academic research groups and sits on a number of academic industry advisory boards.
