Overview

The application of sanctions are increasing in number and scope, and are binding on all natural and legal persons. Sanctions can cover a wide variety of elements such as financial services (e.g. asset freezes), trade (e.g. export restrictions) and immigration (e.g. visa and travel bans). This webinar will provide information on how Revenue are adhering to the EU Restrictive Measures, the customs implementation of sanctions measures at import and export and we will hear valuable insights from the Central Bank of Ireland, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Maeve O’Malley
 

Maeve O’Malley is a Principal Officer in the Financial Services (Financing & Investment Funds) Branch in Revenue’s Large Corporates Division. She has responsibility for the management of service and compliance functions for aircraft leasing, securitisation and structured finance companies (known as ‘section 110 companies’), regulated investment funds and non-regulated financial service entities.

Maria Kelly
 

Maria Kelly is an Assistant Principal in Revenue’s Large Corporates Division Financing and Investment Funds branch and has responsibility for the aircraft leasing sector and has been in this role since she joined Revenue in 2018. Maria is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with experience working across practice, industryand Revenue.

David Killeen
 

David Killeen is an Assistant Principal in the Prohibitions and Restrictions Unit of Customs Division, Revenue.

Joe Hendrick
 

Joe Hendrick is a Higher Executive Officer in the Prohibitions and Restrictions Unit of Customs Division, Revenue.

Vivian Meacham
 

Vivian Meacham is the Financial Sanctions Team Lead. Previous to moving to Financial Sanctions Vivian worked in Enforcement Investigation within the Central Bank. She also has more than a decade plus of Regulatory experience.

Jillian Cussen
 

Jillian Cussen is responsible for Reporting Co-Ordination within the Financial Sanctions Team – although she is also responsible for the assessment of derogation applications and responding to general financial sanctions as required. Jillian has substantial regulatory experience within the Central Bank before coming to the Financial Sanctions Team.

Ian Foley
 

Ian Foley is head of the enforcement and compliance section in the Trade Compliance and Responsible Business Unit in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the national competent authority with respect to trade sanctions. Ian has been in the role since 2017.

 

Joanne Smyth

Joanne Smyth is the Sanctions Co-ordinator for the Department of Foreign Affairs
