Long Finance is a several thousand strong initiative founded by Professor Michael Mainelli FCCA FCSI FBCS asking “When would we know our financial system is working?” Michael will share several ideas on how to measure this.

Confidence Accounting is one such idea - a proposal to use distributions, rather than discrete values where appropriate in auditing and accounting - This has the support of CISI and ACCA and that leading thinkers such as Andy Haldane and Sir David Tweedie have recommended exploring.

Other proposals include using “internal growth rate” for pension valuations and applying asymmetric gain and loss recognition.
