About the Presenters
Aidan Clifford, Advisory Service and Public Affairs Manager, ACCA
Ireland. Aidan provides an advisory
service for members’ of ACCA on accounting, auditing, ethical and company law
as well as coordinating the ACCA Ireland responses to proposed legislative and
regulatory changes. Aidan also
represents ACCA on a number of technical committees in areas such as anti-money
laundering, reporting to CEA and various audit related working groups. Aidan is a voluntary member of the Board
Oversight Committee for a community credit union.
Brian Hayes is a
partner in Moore and leads firm’s Governance, Risk and Assurance team. Brian specialises in credit union consulting
work and has advised over 150 credit unions over the past decade. Brian is a
both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Internal Auditor.
Gene Boyd is an experienced chartered accountant who has worked in a variety of senior management
roles with international exposure, principally in the pharmaceutical
industry. He has extensive governance
expertise having worked for a number of years in iternal audit, chairs
the Audit Committee of Kerry County Council and is a member of the Audit
Committee of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform as well as
providing risk management training and consultancy services.
He has held various governance
roles in credit unions including, at various times, Chair of the board, the
board oversight committee and audit committee.
He is currently on the board of Member First Credit Union, one of the
larger community-based credit unions in Ireland.
Gene also delivers and has
developed training courses for the Irish League of Credit Unions, the Credit
Union Development Association, the Institute of Public Administration, and the
National College of Ireland on Governance-related topics.
Michael Byrne is the CEO at Core Credit Union &
Vice President of the Board at Irish League of Credit Unions. Michael is
also an ACCA member who has worked at partner level in auditing and is a member
of the ACCA Financial Services Panel. Michael has also volunteered for the ILCU
Foundation Volunteer Coaching Programme.
