ACCA Ireland and the Leinster Panel are proudly supporting
Pieta House

On behalf of Jamie Renehan, the Chair of the ACCA’s Leinster Members’ Network, ACCA Ireland is delighted to invite you to the ACCA Christmas Charity Lunch, in aid of Pieta House, featuring Irish sporting legend Liam Sheedy. This eagerly anticipated in-person event will take place in the Westin Hotel, in the heart of Dublin City, on Friday 2nd December.

Chosen charity:

One of our favourite parts of the Christmas Lunch is the amazing contributions that you, our members give to support our Chairs chosen charity, Pieta House, and the amazing work they do in helping people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm. Pieta House has achieved a great level of success in saving lives and providing great support to the family members of those affected. Sadly, during the pandemic, the amount of people having suicidal distress has increased significantly, besides increasing the level of poverty and financial instability for people.

In 2020 Pieta delivered over 52,000 hours of intervention and bereavement counselling, managed over 70,000 crisis support calls and texts through our 24 freephone helpline and directly supported over 600 households devastated by the loss of a loved one by suicide.

The service that Pieta House provide is free of charge, and their staff are fully qualified, providing a professional one-to-one therapeutic service for people who are experiencing suicidal ideation, people who have attempted suicide, and people who are engaging in self-harm.

Throughout the event, we will be fundraising for our Pieta House, which will include a raffle, for which we already have some fantastic prizes lined up. All proceeds of the raffle go directly to the charity.

Guest Speaker:

We are delighted to announce Liam Sheedy as our guest speaker for the event – Liam has over 25 years of experience of leading teams to outstanding results in both the corporate and sporting environments. He is one of Irish sport’s most successful leaders. Having played at the highest level, Liam is best known for remarkable managerial success, leading his native Tipperary to an epic All-Ireland Final victory in 2010 before stepping away afterward to concentrate on a banking career. He returned nine years later as manager of Tipperary and recaptured the title in his first year back at the helm. He has also won numerous awards, including Philips Manager of the Year and Volunteer in Sport.
