About the presenters
Andrea De Matteis
Andrea is a leading expert in payments regulations, contributing to the advancement of the payment industry, as writer, influencer and advocate, publishing articles, participating in working groups and payments conferences and summits. Based in Brussels and Rome, Andrea is the founder of De Matteis Law, an international boutique law firm, specialising in PSD2, Strong Customer Authentication, Open Banking, Digital Wallets and Alternative Payment Methods, as well as Interchange Fee Regulation and Digital Currencies. Andrea also worked at the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission.
Christopher Baert
Christoph joined MasterCard Europe in 1993 and has since been in charge of Regulatory Affairs for the Europe Region. His responsibilities include monitoring legislative and regulatory initiatives, compliance with payment systems legislation, competition law and Central Bank Oversight.
His day-to-day activities include representing Mastercard Europe’s interests in dealings with National Competent Authorities, EU institutions and Central Bank. Christoph graduated from Leuven University in Belgium and was awarded a Masters of Law (LLM) degree in European law at King’s College London.
