Paula Byrne, FCCA MBA
Paula is a Chartered Certified Accountant and one of Ireland’s leading tax lecturers, specialising in advanced tax strategy and advisory.
She holds an MBA from the University of Warwick and established her own accountancy practice in 2002, advising clients on a wide range of complex tax and commercial matters.
Her earlier career includes senior leadership roles, most notably as Chief Financial Officer with HSBC Ireland, along with international accounting experience in France and the UK across multiple industries.
Paula lectures Advanced Taxation for ACCA and delivers bespoke tax training to qualified accountants and professional firms, including the Big Four. Her focus is on bridging the gap between technical tax knowledge and real-world client advice.
She is the author of ACCA-approved ATX and TX materials, widely used across Ireland, and the creator of the podcast “Study for Tax in Your Coffee Break”, bringing practical tax insights to busy professionals.
Paula is particularly known for her ability to distil complex tax issues into clear, commercially relevant advice — equipping accountants with the confidence to advise at a higher level.
Tom Murray, Director, Friel Stafford
Tom Murray is a valuation expert at Friel Stafford with extensive experience in business advisory services. He previously served as President of ACCA Ireland and as a member of the ACCA Global Council.
With a strong background in M&A, Tom advises on corporate transactions and strategic growth. He is best known as a specialist in corporate insolvency, helping clients navigate complex restructuring scenarios.
Tom is a seasoned professional in business valuations for firms across various sectors. He is known for his practical approach and deep understanding of market trends and regulations.
