AI for Accountants in Practice

Overview:

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how accountancy practices operate - from automating routine compliance work, to reshaping how firms research, advise and communicate with clients.

This practical, hands-on session is designed specifically for accountants working in practice, whether in a sole practice, a small firm or a growing SME-focused practice. Rather than abstract theory, it focuses on where AI can save real time today: automating bookkeeping and data entry, drafting client correspondence, speeding up technical research and streamlining repetitive workflows.

Delegates will leave with a clear, grounded understanding of what current AI tools can and cannot do, how to use them safely and ethically within a regulated profession, and a set of practical use-cases they can apply immediately in their own practice.

Key Features of the Course:

This CPD session will cover:

    • Understanding today’s AI landscape: what generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot actually do — and where their limits lie

    • Automating routine practice work: bookkeeping, invoice and receipt data extraction, and document processing

    • Using AI to draft and refine client correspondence, engagement letters and management letters

    • Speeding up technical and tax research — with practical safeguards against inaccuracy and “hallucination”

    • Connecting the tools your practice already uses through simple, low-code automation

    • AI for practice growth: client communications, proposals and marketing content

    • Data protection, client confidentiality and GDPR considerations when using AI tools

    • Professional ethics and responsible use: staying within ACCA guidance and your professional obligations

    •  A practical roadmap for introducing AI into your practice without disruption
