Data Protection – Essential Elements and Introduction to New EU Legislation (GDPR)

The Data Protection Acts apply to any business or individual that uses or retains personal data and there can be severe penalties if the legislation is not adhered to. There is new EU legislation, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will come into force May 2018 which introduces new elements and significant enhancements which will require detailed consideration by all organisations involved in processing personal data. Ruth Hallinan is a certified Data Protection Practitioner and a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) with over twenty years’ experience of working in both the Oil and Technology industries and within her own consultancy company, RFH Consulting.
She is compliance focused with experience in Data Protection and implementing ISO27001 Information and Data Security. The framework surrounding both Data Protection and ISO27001 are strongly linked. Ruth is also a member of the Association of Compliance Officers of Ireland (ACOI) and the Association of Data Protection Officers (ADPO) and is a member of the ADPO Executive Committee.
